Prehistoric settlements

 

Gromile – a prehistoric settlement and a Roman fort, located on a wide area between Pliva and the road and occupies about 2 hectares of area. It is one of the largest antique sites in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Visible are the substructions of Roman buildings, architectural fragments, fragments of ceramics, and during previous research various inscriptions, traces of hypocast, terra sigillata ceramics, and the money of Emperor Constantine (306-337) have been found. The existence of a prehistoric-bronze Age layer under the one with ancient material.

Glogovac Gradina – Prehistoric Gradina and Late Antique Fortification. The location is located on a rock along the right bank of the river Glogovac, on the left side of the road towards the monastery of the same name. Remains of buildings on the top, probably guards, have been preserved. A number of fragments of ceramics, metal objects and money were found here, among which were three golden trousers, a golden ring, an iron spear, a key, a tile with an inscription and 17 gold coins, but only one ring with an inscription and three gold coins (Honorius 395-423, Valentinianus III 425-455).

Gradina – a prehistoric hill and a late antique fort, right next to the Gromile site, on the other side of the road. On the hill there are poorly preserved traces of defense architecture of the urban area, and fragments of ceramics. It may have had an even purpose in the ancient period.

Stanković Gradina – Sokolac – Prehistoric Gradina and a medieval fortification, on the right side of the gorges canyon. On three sides guarded by a dike. Outside the building, there was another rampart. Late bronze or early Iron Age, and in the Middle Ages Soko city is in the city.

Glavica – Prehistoric hill and tumulus, located at the mouth of Sokocnica in Pliva, ipod village of Keleči.

Maglić glavica – Prehistoric garden on the left bank of the river Janj, right next to the locality of Crkvina. At the top there are remains of a hollow-shaped fortification, measuring 12×10, around which the earth embankment is ring-shaped. Surface finds (fragments of ceramics) can be given to the younger iron age. Because of the vicinity of the site from the ancient and medieval period, it is possible that this fort was used in this period as well.

Orahovica – Gaj – Prehistoric hill, medieval necropolis of stećak tombs and Roman road. The settlement, measuring 150x100m, is located above the left bank of Rijeka Janj. Surface findings at this locality are fragments of ceramics, slag and iron objects. The location dates back to the late Bronze and Early Iron Age. With the Mujdžić Perm Popugam road, on the right side, there is a medieval necropolis with about 50 stećak tombs, a 3-I orientation.

Graveyard – On the left side of the river Janj, near the locality of Crkvina, there is an elevation of 680m above sea level on which a prehistoric hill is located. It is possible that during the antiquity and the Middle Ages there was a fortification that protected the church and the access of the city.

Gornji Djukici, Gradina – Church – Prehistoric castle, medieval fortification. The location is on the elongated hills of the hill. To the north it is protected by a steep slope, and in the south by deep sinkholes. The fortress is situated on a hill, dominates the surroundings and has a great view of the Janjske otoke and D. Đukić. Immediately below the fortification there is a spacious plateau – the Church, on which fragments of ceramics and slag are made.

Hrid – Prehistoric fortress, medieval fortification. The location is at an elevation in the very center of the area. From it provides an excellent view of the canyons of the rivers Janj and Vaganc, Sokolin, Djukici, Djukic gradin, and there are also Babici, as well as the mouth of the river Glogovac. The local populace elevation is called Holy Hill. The site is endangered by the latest construction works, and several furnaces for baking ceramics have been damaged. Remains of drywall and embankments are still visible, and construction materials and fragments of ceramics are scattered in the wider area of ​​the site. A bronze knife was found at the site.

For the first time in the history of the city, the tourist organization of the municipality of Šipovo was officially established on June 19, 2007 by the Municipal Assembly of Šipovo. Its main task is to present and improve the tourist offer of the municipality. The seat of the organization is, in Gavrila Principa Street, no. 7a.
