Geographical position

The municipality of Šipovo is located in the south-west part of the Republic of Srpska. It is a highland area intersected by rivers, Pliva and Janj, as well as the streamlets Sokočnica, Lubovica and Volarica. The lowest point of altitude (the confluence of the Janj river and Pliva) is 440 m, and the highest point is the top of the mountain Vitorog which is 1905 m high. It belongs to the Central European Time Zone (GMT + 1), and temperate continental climate zone. The nearest towns are Jajce and Mrkonjić Grad which are approximately 20 km distant, whereas the regional center Banjaluka is approximately 80 km distant.
